In Fontanellato (PR) in an open area a stone’s throw from the castle and on the edge of the historic center, it is proposed to use the available space to insert a series of buildings that can house the art faculty of the University of Parma. The project includes the insertion of classrooms, an auditorium, a small museum and a library as well as the one of housing for students and a canteen.
The intervention proposes in a modern and orderly way the geometries of the Gothic lot houses present in the vicinity in such a way as to favor a correct integration of the project; between the buildings there are the paths that maintain the desirable dimensions for a historic center, a small square and multiple spaces managed as greenery equipped to favor the meeting, dialogue and rest of the students.
The simple volumes of the buildings relate to the context by size and create material contrasts between them: plastered volumes alternate with volumes with exposed brick finishes while large windows are inserted in key points of the project to encourage dialogue between the internal and external spaces as well as the view of the urban landscape.
