La casa M è un’opera a metà tra architettura e design – o scultura – che affiora nel paesaggio di fondo valle all’ingresso sud del comune di Edolo.
Il progetto nasce dalla manipolazione formale di una struttura esistente che viene riconfigurata per mezzo dell’addizione di un nuovo involucro e la reinterpretazione degli spazi esterni attigui.
I nuovi volumi prismatici in lamiera bianca contrastano la verticalità delle vecchie pareti di colore nero e con l’orizzontalità del basamento in pietra il quale connette i due edifici, definisce e riorganizza i percorsi e la fruibilità degli spazi esterni.
Gli ambienti interni mantengono la stessa tensione innescata dai volumi esterni e si aprono al paesaggio tramite vetrate a tutta altezza per ampliarne la percezione.
Tecnicamente l’edificio viene totalmente riqualificato in chiave sostenibile tramite l’installazione dl nuovo involucro isolato oltre che nuovi impianti performanti e sistemi per produzione e trasformazione dell’energia necessaria al suo funzionamento.
The M house is a work halfway between architecture and design – or sculpture – that emerges from the landscape of the valley floor at the southern entrance to the municipality of Edolo.
The project arises from the formal manipulation of an existing structure that is reconfigured by adding a new envelope and reinterpreting the adjacent outdoor spaces.
The new prismatic volumes in white sheet metal contrast the verticality of the old black walls and the horizontality of the stone base which connects the two buildings, defines and reorganizes the paths and the usability of the outdoor spaces.
The internal spaces maintain the same tension triggered by the external volumes and open up to the landscape through floor-to-ceiling windows to expand the perception of it.
Technically, the building is completely redeveloped in a sustainable way through the installation of the new insulated envelope as well as new high-performance systems and systems for producing and transforming the energy necessary for its operation.
